FamilySource Center

 

In partnership with the City of LA’s Community Investment For Families Department, Bresee’s FamilySource Center is committed to serving the community of Central Los Angeles.  Bresee’s Hollywood FamilySource Center (FSC) reaches 2,500 community members each year, serving low-income families to become self-sufficient by increasing family aggregate income and academic achievement for youth. Bresee’s FSC provides the following:

Emergency Relief Assistance Program (ERAP) 

Housing Is Key

The CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program provides financial assistance for rent and utilities to income-eligible California renters and their landlords who have been impacted by COVID-19.

Both renters and landlords can apply for funds to pay up to 100% of missed rent payments, between April 2020 to present.

If you can't pay your rent, we strongly encourage you to begin the process for the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Program through Housing is Key or call us at (213) 387-2822 ext. 113 to make an appointment. 

Eviction Defense Program (EDP)

The Tenant Stability Advisor can help by providing rental assistance, financial coaching, case management, and legal aid support coordination. In partnership with the City of Los Angeles and Legal Aid organizations participating in Stayhousedla.org

Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Program (CARES)

The CARES counselor can assist you with supportive services such as emergency food assistance, rental arrears, and additional supportive resources.  The CARES counselor conducts financial health assessments and coach families in saving; debt reduction, and credit improvement. CARES provides quarterly Financial Literacy program: Women In Charge, a matched savings program helping women and girls break the cycle of poverty. CARES also provides Virtual Learning Opportunities that offer Laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, and hotspots to students meeting income requirements.   

Financial Asset Building

Bresee partners with the Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) to provide financial coaching, free tax preparation, and special savings accounts called Individual Development Accounts that match the deposits of low-income savers.

English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) and Computer Literacy Instruction

Bresee partners with Los Angeles City College to provide ESL and computer literacy instruction to help adults achieve greater integration into the community and improve employability. Students enrolled in these courses have access to free, on-site childcare to facilitate participation.

Immigration Services

Bresee partners with the Catholic Charities of Los Angeles (CCLA) to provide free legal assistance for those who are navigating the immigration system. Services include green card applications, renewals for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), citizenship application, u-visa status, and applications for legal work status. 

Transportation Assistance 

 In partnership with FAME Corporation, clients may qualify for the Low-Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) subsidies including 4-regional ride trip tickets, $11 Taxi Coupons, and monthly bus pass discount.

The LIFE Program was designed to assist Los Angeles County Low-Income riders with the cost of public transportation.
