Contributions from Individuals and Families

For over a quarter of a century Bresee Foundation has been a source of faith hope and service for our community. Over the last 25 years, Bresee has helped thousands of youth and adults end the cycle of poverty and lead productive self-sufficient lives by providing programs that foster holistic youth development and family empowerment.

With your help we can continue to have life-changing impact in our community.  Listed below are numerous ways in which you can make a contribution and help us continue our successful operations and expand our social mission.   

Gifts of Cash

Your partnership makes our work possible and will provide life-changing opportunities for those who need them the most!  The simplest way to support Bresee Foundation is by donating a cash gift. Donations from individuals, companies, congregations, organizations and foundations provide us with the unrestricted funds we need to support operations.

Gifts of Stock and Securities

Bresee Foundation gratefully accepts gifts of securities, including stocks, bonds or mutual funds. Giving a gift of appreciated shares of publicly traded stock that you have owned for more than one year may provide greater tax benefits than giving cash.  In addition to supporting Bresee, a gift of appreciated securities may provide you with added tax advantages:

• Deduct the full fair market value up to 30% of your adjusted gross income
• Carry forward any unused deduction for up to five additional tax years
• Avoid capital gains tax; gifts of appreciated assets to not-for-profit organizations are deductible at their full fair market value if they have been held longer than 12 months
• Save on estate tax, since the gift reduces the assets subject to estate tax

Please consult with your attorney, investment advisor, or accountant about donating appreciated securities to the Bresee Foundation. Please contact our Director of Development Athena Boulgarides at (213) 387-2822 ext. 167 and she will instruct you on how to transfer your stock or securities contribution.

Tributes

A tribute is a gift to celebrate a special event, birthday, wedding, anniversary, graduation, or other milestone occasion in the lives of your family and friends. When you make a tribute gift, we will send a beautiful card to the honoree to let them know that you have a made a gift in his or her honor.

Memorials

To honor the memory of a departed loved one, many families request that a gift be made to Bresee Foundation. We will send a card to the family to inform them of your thoughtful tribute.

Gifts to the Endowment

Begin your legacy today!  Gifts to the Bresee Foundation Endowment Fund are an ideal way to ensure that your support has an impact well into the future.  Revenue earned by our endowment helps to provide a secure funding base to assure that Bresee Foundation is able to provide essential life changing services to the residents in our community for as long as there is a need.

Wills, Bequest and Planned Gifts
With proper planning, it is possible for you to provide for your heirs, save on income and estate taxes, even increase your current income - and give a gift to Bresee Foundation that will continue to help long into the future.
