Bresee Staff:
Leadership and Social Development

Leadership & Social Development programs offer youth (ages 11-21) safe and healthy after-school opportunities including leadership training, and fun, social activities offered in our on-site recreation center. Summer camps, local field trips, and organized sports leagues give youth opportunity to build healthy relationships with peers who live outside their neighborhood.

What I do:
My job at Bresee is to work with kids that have gotten into trouble with the law for the first time and to help them out with what the juvenile court has ordered them to complete. Some of these requirements are community service, peer counseling, anger management, academic enrichment and technology training. We also advocate for them if they need to get enrolled in school as well going with them to court and meetings with their probation officers.

Why I am here:
I’m here at Bresee because I firmly believe in its mission and in what it does for this community. Bresee is a safe haven for kids and provides an atmosphere where they are treated with respect, love and care. Without a doubt we can say that Bresee is an agent of change for many individuals not only on a daily basis, but also by providing opportunities that otherwise would not be available to them for many different reasons. It’s a privilege and an honor to serve this community.

What I enjoy about what I do:
What I enjoy the most about working at Bresee is the fact that we work with the future of our community and our city. I also enjoy meeting new kids and realizing that we are having a positive impact on their lives and that they getting the chance to look at life from a different perspective. Sitting down with a group of kids and talking about what’s going on in their lives and their plans for the future is also a very enjoyable experience.
