Leadership and Social Development
Leadership & Social Development programs offer youth (ages
11-21) safe and healthy after-school opportunities including leadership
training, and fun, social activities offered in our on-site recreation
center. Summer camps, local field trips, and organized sports leagues
give youth opportunity to build healthy relationships with peers who
live outside their neighborhood.
What I do:
I talk to parents to inform them of the programs we have at the youth
center. I work closely with the kids from Virgil Middle School and
walk them safely from school to the community center. I help a student
with anything they may need.
Why I am here:
I used to be a youth center student myself and enjoyed it so much
and felt comfortable. When the chance came I applied for the position
and now I am here doing what I enjoy best—helping others. And
why not give back?
What I enjoy about what I do:
I enjoy working with the kids and knowing that I am helping them to
do something positive in their lives. I also enjoy the new experiences
I learn everyday and understanding the meaning of reaching out to
youth.
